Elevate You Programs
We partner with community-based organizations and educational institutions that align with our mission, building student confidence, resilience, and career direction. Our training and coaching services are delivered virtually or in person. We integrate online learning resources and technology-driven impact evaluations. We believe self-discovery and the identification of a career path can be fun, collaborative, and engaging.
Currently, around half of all students attending college are the first in their families to do so. First-generation students have many strengths, as shown in the research. They tend to have high satisfaction in college compared with non-first-gen peers, increased learning gains, and a greater ability to overcome setbacks of all kinds. But, they struggle with family conflicts, guilt, anxiety, and uneven academic preparation.
A student’s ability to stay engaged in school can be affected by that student’s home responsibilities, lack of family resources, and peer-group tensions related to social class hierarchies. We help participants better cope with emotional stress, solve problems, and envision a bright academic and career-oriented future.
“Elevate You helped improve my communication methods, self-awareness, and approach to working with others. I learned about my innate personality and received tools to determine how I operate in my natural state. I learned about myself and got a clear career direction.”
First Gen Community College Students
Students self-report levels of confidence, resilience, and career direction prior to experiencing the Elevate You program. These initial evaluations set the baseline for our learning objectives and program outcomes. Subsequently, when the Elevate You program is completed, the student will report their progress and provide feedback on both the program delivery and instruction. Students will also provide additional feedback on group coaching services and the impact of ongoing personal and academic support. All data is shared with our community partners to strengthen their program outcomes.
Elevate You program starts with learning modules aligned with the student population and their needs. Each module is 45 minutes in length. They can be consumed as independent topics or combined into workshops.
Participants work as a large group to describe what low levels of confidence and resilience look like and what behaviors/mindsets are produced. The Elevate You instructor moves up the levels model to the highest range. Participants engage as a group to describe the highest levels of confidence and resilience and what behaviors/mindsets are produced.
The purpose and content of the Elevations Assessments is described. The Elevations report is reviewed and explained. Students experience interactive exercises to highlight the power of temperament-based preferences. They review their values, skills, and interests sections, deepening their understanding of who they are and what matters most to them.
Participants learn about the four temperaments which serve as the foundation for the Elevations assessment. The concept of preference is explained. Participants are then invited to work in groups with others who share their dominant preference, brainstorming their values, needs, skills, and challenges. The product of each work group is shared and the instructor elaborates on how each of the four temperaments experiences high and low levels of confidence, resilience and career direction.
The instructor shares a true story about a challenging experience that made them feel like a victim. They proceed to describe a perspective shift that led them to an accountable perspective. A large group discussion focuses on leveraging individual strengths and an accountable perspective to enhance confidence and resilience in challenging circumstances.
Students learn to think about their career as a design project rather than a singular choice of a job title, industry or field. Participants select the three most interesting careers from their Elevations assessment. In pairs, they share what interests them about the careers and look for patterns or themes that will inform both academic direction and career potential.
The students are introduced to the Elevate You model which offers an understanding of the typical stages a student will move through as their career unfolds. The model explains both the psychological impacts of the career discovery process and strategic steps to take to make excellent career-related decisions.
Using their Elevations results and an understanding of the Elevate You Model, participants learn about career-related research and decision-making. They learn to accumulate relevant information and weigh their choices. Students are also encouraged to integrate their values into their decision-making process, ensuring they are making choices that alight with their deeper motivations.
Written goals with resources needed and time-bound goals are the culmination of an Elevate You experience. Participants use the action planning form in their workbooks to: Set goals regarding their career and life development, integrate steps to enhance their confidence and resilience going forward, Integrate the Elevate You tools and information with the partner organization’s tools and resources.
If students are going to experience significant academic and personal growth, ongoing coaching and peer support are required. Life intercedes, obstacles arise, and most young people will revert to previous coping mechanisms, which may be counterproductive.
Elevate You group coaching (in groups of 4-7 students) occurs shortly after the training modules have been delivered. Coaching is delivered live via a virtual platform. Our ICF (International Coaching Federation) credentialed coaches reinforce learning, encourage a positive mindset, and provide action-oriented goal-setting to keep students moving forward.
Our community-based partners can invest in group coaching sessions for as long as they feel it benefits their students.
