In 2020, my corporation was facing the first layoffs in over 20 years. I had no idea what to do, should I stay or go? If I stayed, was there a future for me there? If I left, what would I do? With nowhere else to turn, and my mind whirling in circles, I hired a career coach. My coach helped me to see new perspectives and opportunities, both in my career and in my life, I could not have done on my own. I was able to chart my path forward and make it happen.
I think that it’s critical to have a career coach help you to see your realities and your strengths. A good coach is one that helps you acknowledge the answers that are inside of you, not hand them to you. As a coach, I use reflective inquiry to help you learn more
about yourself.
